This tasty ice cream cone craft is a perfect way to review reading and writing numbers in different forms. This easy to put together craft makes a perfect bulletin board display or art project to send home, while allowing students to practice math skills.
This resource includes the templates and tracers needed to make the math craft pictured on the cover. Students will choose their own number based on criteria given to them by the teacher. This allows teachers to differentiate based on the student. One student can use a double-digit number, while another uses a triple-digit number, and still another a four-digit number. Students will then write their number on the different pieces of the ice cream cone based on the labels. Finally, the student will paste the ice cream cone pieces together. If pieces are copied on white paper students can use their creative juices to create their own ice cream flavors. For an easy to put together craft teachers can choose to copy the pieces on colored paper. You may also need construction paper or colored printing paper, glue, scissors, and writing utensils for your students to complete this activity.
Teachers may also want to use all or some of the scoops to differentiate for grade level standards or student skill levels.
This activity aligns with Common Core standards including:
Teachers can easily differentiate by assigning students different numbers or using different pieces of the craft. This craft is ideal for students in first through third grade.
