Description
Do your students have a concept of what 1,000 is?
You can display the numbers from 0 to 1,000 all in one unit. This helps the children understand the concept of 1,000, since they can see it clearly.
I've made this file more "brain-compatible" by color-coding each set of 100. That will help children's brains notice that 1,000 is made of 10 sets of 100.
It addresses these Common Core Standards: CCSS 2.NBT.2 Count within 1000, skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s. AND 2.NBT.3 Read and write numbers up to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
- See this blog post for more ideas on how to use this number grid.
