Recently I assessed my first graders on their ability to orally identify numbers. A 1 minute Number Identification assessment was used to gather information on each child. On the assessment, my first graders had to orally identify numbers between 1 and 20.
A student's score was based on the amount of numbers read correctly in 1 minute. Most of my students did well; however, the assessment did reveal a small majority of students who did not know their numbers greater than 11! For intervention, I created 4 simple homework assignments on Number Identification that these students could complete at home with a parent. These could be used in a Math Center or during Resource Time. The file contains the 4 homework assignments plus a sample parent note.
