Students will have fun practicing number partners using these hot chocolate mugs and marshmallows. You can use this in two ways:
1. Laminate a class set. Students use dry erase markers to write the numeral and use real marshmallows to show that amount.
2. Use as a cut and paste. Students cut out white marshmallows and glue them on the mugs to show the number partners.
Example: Using a laminated class set, ask students to show you the number partners of 9. The students will use a dry erase marker to write the numeral "9" at the top of the page. Then they will place real marshmallows on the mugs to show number partners. They can place 4 marshmallows on one mug and 5 on another, or 6 on one mug and 3 on another, etc.
This product can easily be differentiated by giving each student or group of students a different numeral to show the number partners of. For example, I could give a higher group the number 12 and a lower group the number 5.
