These twelve pages were created to make a book for each learner
. Each page shows a hundreds chart
grid. The first grid is for numbers 0-99. The second grid is 100-199 and the pages continue until 1,000-1,099. Each grid has 2-4 numbers already filled in as a guide. This grid allows the student to fill in the missing numbers and identify patterns that are revealed.
To help identify patterns, each page asks the student to color the squares with a certain number. This aspect of the pattern book also makes checking for understanding quick and easy.
I found it works best to quickly check for understanding
after each page before the student moved on to the next page. This helped prevent kids from wasting time filling in many pages incorrectly.
Having the students write the numbers in this pattern book helps students practice the Second Grade Math Common Core Standard, CCSS.Math.Content.2.NBT.A.3:
Read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
Enjoy Counting and Number Patterns!
