To summarize basic number properties, I used this Keynote presentation as a formative assessment. Slides present various problems to students, and students are to identify the property being demonstrated. Slides including answers follow initial slides with prompts. I try to elicit from students the names of some properties before we begin, and use their responses as a "word bank" on the board. Generally, if I ask students, "What comes to mind when I mention the word "property" to you?" someone says commutative, and then associative, identity and distributive follow. I have found that having these 4 words on the board before beginning the Keynote helps students along. Enjoy!
