Description

Here’s a comprehensive set of pet themed math activities to help you teach preschoolers and kindergarteners to recognize the numerals 0-10. These activities are designed to support systematic, sequential instruction for students who benefit from repeated exposure.

Each numeral is introduced individually in numerical order, 0-10. There are four activities (numeral formation mats, count to recognize mats, ten frame mats, and treat jar numeral searches) that focus on teaching recognition of a single numeral and eight (number tower mats, cup craze mats, 3 sets of how many worksheets, color by number worksheets, spin & trace worksheets, and roll & say worksheets) to provide cumulative review after each new numeral has been introduced, generally starting with 2.

After you have taught 0, 1, and 2, you’ll have a variety of activities at your fingertips that only review those numbers. After you teach 3, the review activities will be limited to 0, 1, 2, and 3, etc. There is a numeral in the top right hand corner of the page to let you know which numeral to use it after. Of course, you can also pick and choose numerals and activities to provide targeted, individualized instruction.

You’ll need to provide one-inch counters and linking cubes or stacking counters. Aside from typical classroom supplies, you might also want to have on hand ½ inch counters, play dough, and 2-3 ounce plastic or paper cups.

The minimal color formats are black/ white except for green, yellow, and red dots on the numerals. If you print these in black/ white, the colored dots will be shades of gray.

Stack the Deck for Numerals 0-20 is an ideal companion resource for this set of activities.
