As the ability to recognize numbers when you hear them is way more useful than being able to spell them out, it is important that students get as much practice listening to them as possible.
This activity was initially just consisted of me saying 4 digit numbers aloud and students writing them on whiteboards, while they were learning hundred and thousands. I decided to make each number meaningful by using years.
1. The teacher says the number (year) in Spanish. Students either hold up number cards or write the number on whiteboard to show that they understand.
2. The teacher reveals the correct answer on the slide and discusses the historical significance of the year in history for the Spanish-speaking world.
Takes about 10-20 minutes. Slides are animated to reveal the answers after the slide has appeared.
