A number scroll is a wonderful way for children to practice writing their numbers, place value, and recognizing patterns. This Common Core math packet is based on building number sense using differentiated instruction according to your students' needs.
The children are working at their own speed so it is great for differentiation.
K.CC.1, K.CC.2, K.CC.3 SMP6 SMP7 SMP8
I begin this lesson during the Number Scroll lesson within the Every Day Math Program.
I also introduce this lesson prior or near the 100th day of school.
We continue this activity within the MATH CENTER.
Students are motivated to complete each page to receive an incentive within your class management.
RULES for your class management that I use in class.
Students can work on their number scroll anytime during SNACK and CENTER TIME.
They cannot go on to the next page until I check each page (I give them a star/sticker)
I pick three random numbers for them to read for me.
If they cannot read the number, they need to go back and practice reading their numbers before moving onto the next page.
This packet includes numbers from 1 to 500:
Empty sheets to write numbers 1-500.
Highlighted numbers where students can TRACE (for differentiation).
Reference sheets from 1-500.
Highlighted Reference Sheets for all the 1s, 5s and 10s.
Certificate for students who complete their Number Book.
Ribbon for their BRAG TAG that they either take home or place in their classroom Brag Tags.
