Product Description
Many children come to school without basic number sense. Here are some activities to do with Cuisenaire Rods that help build their number sense, in a fun way!

Cuisenaire Rods are loved by children, and they are great tools for math manipulatives. Here are some practice activities that can be used at math centers or small group instruction to help children develop stronger number sense in a fun way.

For this activity, the children are asked to examine one of the Cuisenaire Rods and compare it to the other blocks. Children are asked to determine if the block represents an even or an odd number, and form number sentences (equations) to combine that block with other blocks.

These activities support these Common Core Standards:

1.OA.1 and 2.OA.1 - Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction.
1.OA.2 and 2.OA.2 – Add and subtract within 20.
1.OA.3 – Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
1.OA.4 – Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
