Shuffles are a great way to practice or perfect a specific skill. You can use these cards in a few ways:
• You can spread the cards around the room. Students can walk around in pairs or on their own with the Recording Sheet (page 2). When they reach a card, they’ll read it and determine the answer. They’ll match the number on the Task Card to their
Recording Sheet and write their answer in the box.
• You can also use these as flashcards. Put students in pairs, groups, or 1-on-1 with you. Have them read the card and answer aloud. The person they’re practicing with can check the answers. For this version, there would be no need for the Recording Sheet.
• Students can do this as independent practice, without moving around the room. The teacher can project the card on the whiteboard or screen. Students will use their individual Recording Sheets to write their answers to each problems. Students can either correct their own papers with the teacher, switch papers with a buddy and correct with the teacher, or the teacher can collect all of the papers to correct on his or her own time.
