Place value is often a difficult concept for primary students to grasp. The more varied the exposures you give them to practicing with it, the more confident they will become. This is a matching game with a little twist. Students are looking to match the base ten block pictures to the correct number. The number cards include easily confused numbers, such as 17 and 71. They will have to understand the value of the base ten blocks in order to do this, as well as recognize how similar digits in different "places" will result in a totally different number. A nice change from building a number with the blocks themselves, this also makes for a simple assessment tool for the classroom or small group teacher.
