Description

Students will solve number string addition problems with this packet.

Here are the teacher directions for the main activity in the packet so that you have a better understanding of the game you are purchasing. In the packet I have included a page with student directions for each of the two activities.

Students will practice adding number strings (ex, 3+4+2+4) with 3-5 addends. I have included all possible sums for 3-5 string addition so based on student or teacher choice some cards will not be needed.

When the students have solved the number string they will find the lost animal with the correct sum to put in their ranger car. Once collected, the animal will stay in that ranger car until the game is over. The game is over when all animals have been found (or after a certain amount of time.) The student who was able to help find the most animals wins the game.

An extension to this is the Addition Answer Key in the packet which has how many points each animal is worth. Students can add up the points of their animals to see which ranger collected the most points. If you have students working on 2 digit addition with regrouping they can add up their actual sums on the cards to see who won the most points.

Please note: If you would like for students to have a choice of how many addends they solve you can set a timer for the game to end as there will be extra game pieces.

I have also included two boards for "Roll & Bump" with 2 dice to help provide differentiation for all students. There are also two blank boards so that you can write in numbers of your choosing if you wish to modify it.

There is a preview which shows the different elements of the packet but does not accurately reflect the picture quality as they were just small snippets taken.
