****** This is exactly the same as the Number Talks Kindergarten Christmas Edition. It is just a different theme. *********

Number Talks will get your students engaged in meaningful mathematical conversations that will increase their ability to reason mathematically as well as develop their computational fluency skills and their ability to think flexibly about numbers.

When students engage in this short daily activity, they communicate with their peers in a safe environment where it's okay to not be right all the time. It's okay to learn from each other. They learn to discuss various strategies and the effectiveness of those strategies. They begin to take risks.

***I have only included a PowerPoint as some of the activities are interactive.***

Included are:

✔Hand signals poster

✔Sentence Starter Cards

✔Number talks for Addition, Subtraction and Whole Number

The Number Talks could be used for:

✔Warmups for Math lessons

✔ Homework

✔ Independent Practice

✔ Paired or group work

✔ Early Finisher Tasks

✔ Assessment

Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
