Number grids are a great way for kids to understand number patterns and to practice writing numbers. Kids beg to work on this once it is introduced. They can work with teams or as individuals. It's a great quick assessment to see who needs help with number reversals or understanding the pattern of counting. Kids can make a number scroll or a book. In my class, when students write to 100, they are in the "100s club!" As they move to each new hundred, they move their post it with their name on it to the next "club." I have each student set a goal. Some set a goal to make it to 100 or 500. Some set a goal to make it all the way to 1000!
