### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This math pack includes activities designed to help students:

• understand that the digits in a two digit number represent tens and ones
• order numbers (within 100) from greatest to least and least to greatest
• compare numbers (within 100) using the “greater than” and “less than” signs
• practice finding one more, one less, ten more, and ten less (than a given number)

The first 20 work mats are designed for students to use “base ten rods” and “ones cubes.” These manipulatives come with most first grade math series. I do not recommend purchasing this pack if you do not have access to base ten rods and ones cubes.

Students place base ten rods/ones cubes on their mat to build the number on the top of the mat. Then students change the ten rods/ones cubes based on the “How do you” question. Following that, students write a short response (with dry erase markers) explaining what they did to change the number.

The students can use base ten rods with the remaining 22 work mats, but it’s not essential. These work mats include writing in numbers with dry erase markers and placing cards on the work mats.

Students can complete these activities individually in centers or in a small-group setting with the teacher.
