Use a Number of Books Read Sign in your reading center to motivate your readers. This is a set of ten different designs you can use, including cactus, stars, hearts, books, hands, bee, and owl. Nine designs in black and white, one in color.
Print out the design of your choice on regular copy paper.
Place in a dollar store certificate frame.
Hang in your reading center or classroom library.
Using your student reading logs, once a week, update how many books the class has read in all.
Write the number on the glass with a vis-à-vis wet erase marker.
Wipe off with a damp cloth or baby wipe when you are ready to change the number.
Your students will love to watch the number change!
You may choose to provide some sort of class reward for reaching certain milestones. Adds a useful element to your classroom décor.
