I do this as a WHOLE GROUP activity every morning during our calendar routine. By the winter time, my students complete this activity on a specified number independently on a weekly basis as an assessment for number sense for numbers up to 10. In the spring time, my students begin to complete this on numbers from 11 to 20.

Write number.
Write one before and one after.
On a number line, write one less and one more.
Odd or even: Color in each circle going from left to right. Then, draw a line between the circles to make partners. At the end, if the circle has a partner it is an Even Steven. If the circle does not have a partner it is an Odd Todd.
Complete the ten frame.
Write a number sentence.
Show a tally.

Can be used as a whole group activity, independent activity/center, homework, and/or assessment of number sense/composing and decomposing numbers.
