There are so many amazing number of the day worksheets out there and I love so many aspects of the many different kinds; however, I wanted to lessen the amount of paper I used in my classroom. I had seen math mats for other subjects before, so I decided to create my own, which incorporated all the skills related to number sense that I loved the most. This way my students can reuse the Math Mats until I feel they have mastered that set of skills and I can move on to a different Math Mat when they are ready for more complex activities or simply need a change. In our classroom, we use number of the day as part of our morning work because it gets everyone thinking and allows us to exercise our brain early in the morning. This product is great for number sense, critical thinking, place value, and formative and summative assessment.
I can't get into my classroom at the moment to take pictures; however, I will be able to do so soon. As soon as I am able, I'll update the file with pictures for the "How to Make Them" section as well as other helpful tips. If you download early, then you will have free access to the subsequent updated file(s). I thought I'd go ahead and post it for anyone who wanted to prep now.
Please let me know if there is something you would like to see added! As time is available, I am happy to add or edit per feedback. Keep checking back for an editable version of the Blank Mat!
