Incorporating daily routines such as Number of the Day tasks help to provide rich mathematical opportunities for students. This file contains materials that focus on a winter fact that generates the number for the day. The fact and the number can be displayed and students can respond by writing the number in a different way and posting it on the chart. For example, the number 15 could be written as 10+5 or “minutes equaling a quarter of an hour” or even 3x5. The number of the day task is naturally differentiated because students respond depending on their math ability. I have also included sheets for each number that require students to respond to the number of the day in a specific way.
