If your kids need numeracy practice this is the activity for you!
I feel you and your kids will get great use of this resource and you will find it lends itself well to developing numeracy. You will find there are many different versions of the template to use. It is created this way so you can adjust and differentiate to the needs of your learners. You could use this from K-3rd grades. The versions will move them from easy numeracy concepts into more difficult concepts at their own speed.
-base ten model
-part part whole
-creating & solving word problems
-word problem solution format (understand, plan, solve, check)
Some ideas on how to use it:
-print a large poster of the template to laminate and use whole group in class
-print various versions to put into dry erase sleeves so they can practice independently, partners, or small group.
-put templates into math tubs with corresponding leveling stickers. When a student is finished early they can get their leveled version that works for their level to practice.
-after teaching, use as an assessment
-use as a warm– up activity
These are only made for up to 120 practice.
When ready for this concept, they choose a clue card and fill that part in on their template. They then have to use the clue to determine the number of the day and work from there.
Use clue cards in a station to have students practice working on finding the number of the day, rather than always being given the number.
