Looking for some fun, easy, hands-on number sense activities for your kindergarten or first grade classroom? These avtivities are a perfect way to practice counting, number correspondence, subitizing, and math fact fluency. This activity will also reinforce the crucial understanding that smaller numbers or parts can be put together to make a larger whole number. Woo hoo! These will come in handy as a fun supplement to your regular math curriculum or a seasonal thematic activity. These are great for math warm ups, work stations, early finishers, or when you have a sub. There are several ways to use these, so they are flexible and will help keep kids engaged all year long. Fun practice for your kiddos, easy for you... done and done!
These pages are DIFFERENTIATED with two pages for each seasonal image so that students can use two or three dice. There are also two recording sheets included for students to write number sentences for each roll.
To do this activity, you will need dice and some common math manipulatives. Students will roll the dice, count the dots (or use mental math to figure out the number), then cover the corresponding numeral. Students can simply cover the numeral or build it with cubes. You can also have students roll, cover, and write a number sentence. You can even use the two dice pages with dominoes. This is a great activity for partners to do together. My students LOVE this activity and ask me to do it again! I hope yours do too.
I made these for my own classroom and I hope they help YOU too! Please check out the preview file to see exactly what you are getting in this pack. I hope this becomes a valuable resource for your classroom.
