Questions are included for each chapter. Different types of questions are used. Some answers are directly in the text. Others require students to combine what they read with their own background knowledge. Still others require readers to make connections to their own lives and express how they feel about what they are reading. There is possibly enough space for students to write answers on the print out. I had my students write the answers in complete sentences in their notebooks. These chapter questions could be used to guide a whole class, small reading group, or individual student. Vocabulary words are noted next to the chapter questions with the page where they are found. Additional pages are included for students to copy the definitions they find in a dictionary.
Also included is a comprehension test which is made up of the questions from the chapters that were key to the plot and themes of the book. An answer key is provided for the chapter questions and test answers can be found there also. I had discussed the questions and answers with the reading groups so they knew the appropriate answers and could use their chapter questions as a study guide for the test.
