Product Description
This is a novel study I created to use while studying the novel, Number the Stars.

I use this novel study in our small group reading interventions. Students typically need between 30-60 minutes for each assignment, depending on the student’s level and activity. This novel study is differentiated for two levels.

There are 4 different types of assignments that students will complete.

Research Assignments: All of the links needed for research activities are provided. Students will read an informational article related to the text. They will then use information from the informational text to make connections with what they are reading in the novel. The questions students will respond to are leveled. If your students do not have access to Internet to complete the research, I have included bonus “Making Connections” assignments that allow students to meet the same standards and respond to the same questions from their background knowledge and the information presented in the novel, OR you may simply print the articles out for students :)

Word Work Assignments: These assignments are leveled. You may choose to use one or all of the word work assignments for your students, depending on their needs.

Respond to the Text Assignments: These assignments require students to develop a deeper understanding of what they have read. Students take the information they read and apply it to different types of writing prompts. Students are asked to use text evidence to support their responses.

Discussion Questions: I use these question cards to facilitate discussion with each small group. These are open-ended questions that require an understanding of the text as well as higher-order thinking.

Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback for me regarding this novel study! Thank you so much for your purchase!
