This lesson uses first hand accounts from Holocaust survivors to speak to the gravity of the situation. Students will analyze a poem written by Sonia Weitz and compare their inferences about the poem to a video in which she explains the true derivation of the poem. Students will then analyze an excerpt from Eli Wiesl's Night. Each memeber of the group will read the excerpt for a specific purpose and share findings with the group. Students will finally have to compare which of the sources had a more profound effect on them and explain why using evidence from the sources to support their position.
