Numberlines are a fun way for your students to be introduced to, practice and learn about the patterns associated with skip counting and begin thinking about the multiples of numbers. For each number (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,25) I start with a brief explanation or hint regarding the number. I then explain four skip counting ideas and how to make them. Finally, I discuss the different place value number patterns and the patterns on the 100s chart. Most ideas can be adapted to other numbers, most science, social studies and seasonal themes. I keep the number lines up all year for the stuents to reference during math. Have fun counting!
