This resource includes 52 large (half page) cards showing combinations to 10.
The numbers have groups of open dots on them, corresponding with the number. The children can choose a card, and fill in each dot, counting as they do it. They will experience the fact that 2+3 (for example) equals 5, by counting each dot.
The dots can be filled in by a bingo dauber, markers and crayons, circle stickers, play dough balls, small manipulatives such as rainbow teddies and dinosaurs, or anything else you can think of.
Also, on each card there is a place to trace, and to write the number sentence, for children who have the appropriate fine motor skills.
I have also included a graph for the teacher, showing the combinations of 5 and 10.
This activity can be used as a reusable center – print on cardstock and laminate, use wipe-off markers or crayons. Or it can be offered as an individual activity, printed on paper.
