I like teaching math to be as fun for me as it is for my students. I love teaching math using my interactive math journals (it’s changed my life), but I felt my students needed more hands on activities to guide whole group instruction. Worksheets weren’t cuttin’ it. What I’ve included in this package, is 5 interactive activities to teacher Numbers and Operations in Base Ten, plus a practice sheet for each skill to be completed in whole group, prior to incorporating the whole group activities. These activities could also be implemented in math centers and/or for guided math groups.
To Implement the Practice Sheets:
Print and copy a class set of each practice sheet. These practice sheets can help guide your whole group instruction, guide your guided math instruction, serve as review at math centers, or be assigned for homework to reinforce the skills taught using the interactive activities.
To Implement the Interactive Activities:
Print, copy and laminate activity cards. Place cards in a plastic baggie with a class set of recording sheets. Incorporate activities as part of whole group instruction (I would implement these activities after teaching using the practice sheets), to guide guided math groups, or in math centers for review.
