Based on an activity presented by Helena Curtain in her workshop “Strengthening Foreign Language Instruction”, this activity practices the numbers from 0 to 1005. Based on the numbers given orally or in writing, the students draw a picture by drawing lines from one number to another. Included in the packet are: (1) two drawings to be completed, each on both the lower number sheet and the larger (4 total); (2) the number pages – one from 1-510 and the other from 511 – 1005; (3) the list of numbers needed to draw the pictures – arranged so that students should be unable to guess the pattern until almost finished; (4) a copy of the final pictures on both number pages; and (5) an instruction sheet for the teacher. The number pages can be projected on a Smart Board/ActivBoard for a full class activity. The list of numbers may be given to the students for a homework or extra credit assignment. This is a versatile activity that is well-enjoyed by the students. It can be easily graded (the picture turns out correctly), should the teacher wish to do so. Many designs are available for you here on TpT, and students sometimes enjoy creating more for extra credit points. This activity could be done in English to practice numbers as well.
