I've used this project as a "getting to know you" activity at the beginning of the year or for my students' portfolio. The students are to brainstorm how numbers are important to them. I provide a teacher example first of a few numbers (ie: "4" brothers, "13" is the sum of my address, "2" pets, etc). Then students write a description and draw a picture to correspond to each number. Sometimes I have the students present the project to their cooperative learning group or to the class.
