Nursery Rhymes are an introduction and a connection to poetry. They help students develop an understanding of rhyming words and word families.
Many students don't know nursery rhymes so this lesson is a great way to begin to teach them. It can be used as a center or taught in a small group or with the whole class.
Students will practice reading the nursery rhyme Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. They will also answer comprehension questions about the nursery rhyme. Included is a page for student to copy the nursery rhyme or write the nursery rhyme after memorizing it. There is a color copy to hang in the classroom and a black and white copy for student notebooks.
