This unit contains 35 Nursery Rhymes and Songs to help children learn how to track print and understand the concept of word.
Each song/rhyme consists of two pages. The first page has one box to represent each word in the rhyme. Children learn the rhyme, and then use a pointer to touch one box for each word they say in the rhyme. Once this is mastered, students turn to the second page to track print by pointing to the actual words found in the rhyme.
With this unit, children learn to track print, and learn the difference between letters, words, and sentences. As they focus on words, students practice beginning, medial and ending sounds. They also learn to recognize rhyming words and sight words.
While this unit stands alone, reading skills can be strengthened by combining this unit with the Nursery Rhymes and Songs Game Unit.
