Some of the 9 high school level activities I’ve created for the Nutrition Unit use fast food restaurant menus, food labels and common vitamins to examine nutrition. Students calculate their ideal weight, develop a weekly food menu with shopping list on a budget, make a 24 hour food log, calculate how much land is required to sustain them for a year, and compare two brands of soup. One activity involves calculating the calories burned off during various exercises and another compares the fat content of different beef samples. Test and Quizzes for this unit are available on this website. Corresponding lecture notes are free and can be found on this website.
