Product Description
This mini unit contains 12 activities that will compliment your health and nutrition unit. The activities are aligned to the common core standards; and a table has been included with direct correlations to help with planning. The activities were developed for use in my kindergarten classroom, but could be adapted for first grade as well. The following is a list of activities included in this unit.
Healthy/Unhealthy Sorting Center: students classify pictures as healthy or unhealthy.
What's Your Flavor: students survey their friends to see which flavor milk is most/least popular in their classroom.
Beginning Sound Cut and Glue: students will cut out letters and match them to the pictures to show the beginning sound for each picture.
Healthy Endings: Students will identify ending sounds in words/pictures.
Counting Mats: Program the grocery bags with the numbers 1-20, and have students count out the correct number of food manipulatives for each bag.
Healthy Eating: Students will draw a picture to show a healthy and well balanced meal.
Healthy Eats and Special Treats: Class book - students will write to complete each prompt (One telling a healthy food that they like to eat, and one telling a "special treat". They will illustrate each completed sentence).
Garden ABC's : Students will fill in the missing letters to help the farmer gather his cabbage.
Counting and Comparing Sets: Students will count objects in each set, write the number for each, and compare to see which set has the greatest/least number.
Fruit and Vegetable Syllable Center: Students will identify the number of syllables in each picture card, and write to record their answers.
Nutritious Syllables Cut and Glue: Students will cut out the number cards and glue them to the pictures to show how many syllables are in each picture.
Fruity Tooty Count and Graph: Students will count food items in the picture, and color the graph to show how many of each item the see. They will write the number to show how many they have of each food, and compare to see which they had the most/least of.
