PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Health and Nutrition Curriculum

As teachers, we all know the importance of sleep, nutrition and exercise on how our students learn. As a Mom, I love how I can have an impact on what my own children put into their bodies.

With Mindful Bodies, Mindful Learning, teachers can provide lessons to students on the importance of sleep, nutrition and exercise which impacts their students' mood and their learning.

This unit is packed with anchor charts and information for teachers and students and activities to make learning these things fun and effective.

Students will learn:

NUTRITION

* The 5 food groups (4 in Canada and provided)
* Each food group has a printable for students with nutritional information.
* Grocery games: a special homework section so students can bring this learning home and to the grocery store to make it more meaningful

SLEEP

* What is sleep? Students will learn what happens when your body and brain go to sleep. They will learn the importance of sleep.

* What are some ways/habits to promote good sleep?


EXERCISE

* What is exercise?
* Types of Exercise - endurance, flexibility/balance, strength
* Brain boosts: What are they, why are they important, suggestions for brain boosts.

HEALTH/HYGIENE

* What is hygiene?
* Germs: Why it's important to stay clean to avoid germs
* Healthy Habits

I have included a simple book for students to summarize all of their learning.
