This vocabulary-enriched presentation of O. Henry’s charming and popular short story “Hearts and Minds” has been arranged for classes with ELL / ESL students who need considerable support with vocabulary. The script presentation is to make the reading experience lively and engaging for the class. The text as also presented in its usual prose format, with the same additional vocabulary words. Nothing has been changed from the original story -- i.e., it’s not abridged, just enriched. A vocabulary activity (matching and drawing and writing sentences) is included. A study guide has also been included with questions that explore O. Henry’s penchant for quick and clever characterization, situational and verbal ironies, and surprise endings.
