Students will sing the "OA: Goat" song to the tune of "If Your Ears Hang Low." Students will identify words having oa and learn to associate all the embedded oa words with this spelling. Teachers can also use this song to introduce vocabulary words and to encourage higher level thinking skills. The use of the word "wonder" changes from how it is used at the beginning. Students will have to think about how some things are "a wonder" and why at the end of the song, it is "not a wonder." Included in this document is a worksheet for students to list oa words, sort words, identify root/base word vs. inflectional endings/suffixes, and finally a space to draw what was seen in the goat's throat. Picturing will help students to cement the song and oa words into their long term memory.
