The OA2 Matching Game has expressions in words and the numerical expressions that match them. There are 3 sets of 12 word and numerical expressions for students to try to match. The sets are labeled “a”, “b”, and “c”. This makes them easy to sort and store. I narrow the cards down to 6 of each for some of my students and expand the cards up to 24(2 sets) for others. I included the “c” set of cards for a tougher challenge. They consist of the same three digits with operational terms between them.
These work best on a medium to dark colored paper. I first tried them on regular copy paper and some of the expressions could be seen through the “cards”. They also work well on card stock. Cut the cards out and laminate them if you wish. They are ready to be used as independent practice or by pairs in a competition to see who can get the most matches. I usually use this as a center activity.
