What educators are saying

This was great for some of my 8th grade students who needed remediation before moving on to multi-step equations. Thanks!
This was such a great resource. I used it in my class to introduce writing equations to my students. It was easy for them to follow and comprehend the word problems!

    Description

    This UNIT RESOURCE BUNDLE includes 40 task cards, 4 pages of guided notes, 10 error analysis activities and 10 problem-solving graphic organizers, 4 homework practice worksheets, 1 maze worksheet, 1 riddle worksheet, 1 coloring page activity (over 140 skills practice and real-world word problems). The resources in this bundle are perfect for warm-ups, cooperative learning, spiral review, math centers, assessment prep, and homework.

    Be sure to download the sample for a full overview of what you get.

    Please click on each component for a detailed description of what is included in this bundle.

    This unit resource bundle includes:

    * 10 One-Step Equations ERROR ANALYSIS Activities

    Each page has a real-world word problem that is solved incorrectly. Students have to identify the error, provide the correct solution and share a helpful strategy for solving the problem. Print or use the digital version of this activity.

    * 4 One-Step Equations Doodle GUIDED NOTES

    These guided notes include essential vocabulary, key concepts, and practice questions. Students answer the questions, and then color, doodle or embellish these notes. These doodle notes are perfect for interactive notebooks or mini-anchor charts.

    * 10 One-Step Equations PROBLEM SOLVING GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS

    Each worksheet presents students with a real-world word problem. Students must then organize the information using a problem-solving graphic organizer. Students are prompted to identify the important information in the word problem, solve, justify their work and explain their solution.

    * 40 One-Step Equations TASK CARDS

    Each task card has a real-world word problem. Students can work on these cards individually, with partners, or in groups.

    * 4 One-Step Equations HOMEWORK PRACTICE WORKSHEETS

    Each worksheet includes two sections, Skills Practice and Problems Solving. The SKILLS PRACTICE section of each worksheet includes 6 computational problems to help students sharpen their skills. The WORD PROBLEM section of each worksheet allows students to apply their understanding of the topic to solve 4 real-world problems.

    * 3 One-Step Equations MAZE, RIDDLE, & COLORING PAGE ACTIVITIES

    A maze, riddle, and coloring page are also included. All 3 of these activities allow students to practice this skill while incorporating fun into the classroom! Print or use the digital version of this activity.

    Common Core Alignment:

    * 6.EE.5 - Understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true? Use substitution to determine whether a given number in a specified set makes an equation or inequality true.

    * 6.EE.7 - Solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form x + p = q and px = q for cases in which p, q and x are all non-negative rational numbers

    * 6.EE9 - Use variables to represent two quantities in a real-world problem that change in relationship to one another; write an equation to express one quantity, thought of as the dependent variable, in terms of the other quantity, thought of as the independent variable.

    Understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true? Use substitution to determine whether a given number in a specified set makes an equation or inequality true.
    Solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form 𝘹 + 𝘱 = 𝘲 and 𝘱𝘹 = 𝘲 for cases in which 𝘱, 𝘲 and 𝘹 are all nonnegative rational numbers.
    Use variables to represent two quantities in a real-world problem that change in relationship to one another; write an equation to express one quantity, thought of as the dependent variable, in terms of the other quantity, thought of as the independent variable. Analyze the relationship between the dependent and independent variables using graphs and tables, and relate these to the equation. For example, in a problem involving motion at constant speed, list and graph ordered pairs of distances and times, and write the equation 𝘥 = 65𝘵 to represent the relationship between distance and time.
    Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients.
    Solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically. Apply properties of operations to calculate with numbers in any form; convert between forms as appropriate; and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies. For example: If a woman making $25 an hour gets a 10% raise, she will make an additional 1/10 of her salary an hour, or $2.50, for a new salary of $27.50. If you want to place a towel bar 9 3/4 inches long in the center of a door that is 27 1/2 inches wide, you will need to place the bar about 9 inches from each edge; this estimate can be used as a check on the exact computation.
