### Description

ONE-STEP EQUATIONS WORD PROBLEMS with Graphic Organizer

Get your students successfully understanding and solving ONE-STEP EQUATIONS real-world word problems with these PROBLEM SOLVING GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS.

Problems solving graphic organizers help students organize and clarify their thoughts, infer solutions to problems, and communicate their thinking strategies.

This resource includes 10 problems solving graphic organizers with real-world ONE-STEP EQUATION word problems that students must solve and explain using problem-solving strategies. Each graphic organizer presents students with one real-world word problem. Students must then organize the information they are given, solve, JUSTIFY their work and EXPLAIN their solution. The answer key has the correct solutions as well as sample work.

Students can use these activities with a partner, as a warm-up , as classwork, homework, in math centers or group work.

* 6.EE.5 - Understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true? Use substitution to determine whether a given number in a specified set makes an equation or inequality true.

* 6.EE.7 - Solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form x + p = q and px = q for cases in which p, q and x are all non-negative rational numbers

* 6.EE9 - Use variables to represent two quantities in a real-world problem that change in relationship to one another; write an equation to express one quantity, thought of as the dependent variable, in terms of the other quantity, thought of as the independent variable.

ā„ I loved how it helped students break the problem down to just pick out key information and then had them summarize their findings.

ā„ I love how organized these are with the graphic organizers! Thanks!

ā„ Great resource! Really helped my students conceptually understand the concept. Thank you!

ā„ I enjoyed using these. They "force"my students to really think about the problem, not just solving it.

CCSS6.EE.C.9

Use variables to represent two quantities in a real-world problem that change in relationship to one another; write an equation to express one quantity, thought of as the dependent variable, in terms of the other quantity, thought of as the independent variable. Analyze the relationship between the dependent and independent variables using graphs and tables, and relate these to the equation. For example, in a problem involving motion at constant speed, list and graph ordered pairs of distances and times, and write the equation š„ = 65šµ to represent the relationship between distance and time.

CCSS6.EE.B.7

Solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form š¹ + š± = š² and š±š¹ = š² for cases in which š±, š² and š¹ are all nonnegative rational numbers.

CCSS6.EE.B.5

Understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true? Use substitution to determine whether a given number in a specified set makes an equation or inequality true.
