This set of Task Cards targets those students having difficulty with the language of maths. Knowing what operation to use is a skill independent of the operation itself. Some students need to practise over and over to master this and gain confidence.
There is a variety of operations involved. I have included addition (up to 3 addends), subtraction, multiplication and division. While the operation itself is relatively simple, I have deliberately chosen the language used to make students think. The variety of maths terms will strengthen their ability to see the maths in everyday situations.
I specialise in the foundations skills of literacy and numeracy and develop teaching resources to target specific difficulties my students are having. This set of task cards is particularly suitable for intervention, but they could also be added to a Maths Centre and independent work for consolidation of basic skills. There is a student record sheet included for this purpose.
Students can move from this level to my Two Step Maths Task Cards.
