• This unit is jammed pack with everything you could possibly need for 1 week of math instruction. Lesson plans, paper saving printables, number chats, and much more all with minimal prep and planning time for the teacher. This is a week long complete unit for introducing younger elementary kiddos to graphing. This unit will teach students about different types of graphs, how to use graphs to ask and answer questions and how to collect data to create a pictograph and bar graph, all with a fun sports theme. The first lesson will include a measurement activity, students will create and measure a life sized athlete which will be used in lessons 2, 3, and 4. In lessons 2 and 3 students will learn about quantitative characteristics and use this knowledge to collect data in tally chart form. Data will be used to create a class bar graph on day 3. Students will collect more data in small groups on day 4 to create a pictograph. The unit will wrap up with students independently creating bar graphs on day 5. Math notebook inserts, reinforcement or practice pages, vocabulary cards, graphing templates, and more are included and can be used each day.
