This handout is a good example for adult ESL learners in where to place the adverb "only" in order to restrict an idea in their sentence. Often, they will place "only" incorrectly and not get the restriction they had intended. The students can essentially watch "only" move through these sentences and recognize the subtle changes in meaning. Many other handouts, including this one, are available in my book, "Let's Look At It This Way!, which is available in my store. It's actually a pretty good deal. For the cost of a few handouts, you get 50+ to reproduce for your instructional and classroom use.
