Description
This unit contains:
- Two slide shows (tongue twisters for practice of pronunciation and the public speaking slide show)
- An observation tracking sheet and prompts
- A rubric for speech evaluation
- A rubric for in class oral communication
- A graphic organizer for speech writing
- A basic model of a speech for students to follow
- A resource sheet of transition words for students to use
Depending on how long your students need to work on creating speeches will determine the length of the unit, but the lessons would supply one week’s worth of in class direct instruction for practice of communicating orally in both a rehearsed and spontaneous way, followed by two weeks of work periods for students to write and rehearse their speeches.
