A fun ORAL LANGUAGE board game ALL ABOUT ME to encourage ESL (English as a Second Language) learners to talk and share about themselves; understand; ask and answer questions correctly.
ESL students gain confidence as they share about themselves in a small group. The answers can be written too. Clue pictures on the board to help get started.
RULES: Land on a PINK OWL and the person sitting next to you on the RIGHT HAND SIDE asks you ANY question (QUESTIONS PROVIDED ON ACCOMPANYING SHEET). If you answer the question using a correct sentence you stay put - otherwise go back to where you started from.
Land on a SHOOTING STAR and go for a ride forward or backwards. Print out on A4 or enlarge to A3 for a bigger play board.
Suggestion: Students have a capable first language speaker within their playing group. This helps the game flow and helps others to learn from this expert. Children learn effectively from their peers. The teacher will need to model the correct answer in sentence form. e.g. Q. What is your favourite animal? A. My favourite animal is a dolphin.
