Students will create expressions based off of coupons and a trip to the supermarket. Students will then use the order of operations to simplify said expressions. Students will also have to create equivalent expressions, explain the order of operations to simplify their expressions, and explain what a negative number could represent in a real life scenario. This task can be used as an activity and/or assessment. It is great for formal or informal observations.
