My math lessons focus on student engagement and participation. I focus on developing conceptual understanding using manipulatives, specific language and activities. My lesson plans also include differientiated tasks that cater to the varying levels in the classroom.
1) To define and identify fractions (numerators and denominators)
2) To demonstrate ordering of fractions concretely and conceptually
We want our students to have a solid conceptual understanding of fractions and how to determine their approximate size. This skill will be useful beyond school, but will also help them when they are performing operations with fractions.
