The following 11 activities are designed as long-range student projects or summative tasks for a unit based on S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders.
These projects will stimulate in-depth analysis of plot and character. They also provide practice in other higher level thinking skills through creative writing, research, and summarizing.
Tasks have been selected which will appeal to students of various ability levels and interests. These projects also appeal to a variety of learning styles.
Guidelines for the tasks are deliberately open-ended allowing you to adjust such things as page length and project scope to fit your class needs.
