I found two great videos on you tube and created some questions that target students ability to talk about travel, location, and other descriptions about the City of Oaxaca, Mexico. I use this to introduce a unit on Describing places and giving directions. It features two online youtube links that show a market in Oaxaca and a traveler that stays at a hostel in the city. The videos draw students interest as they watch someone eat fried grasshoppers. Students are exposed to regional foods and they see a random traveler travel from Mexico City to Oaxaca. I use these videos to practice discussing location, prices, descriptions, and other grammar targets of the unit on the city. Following this activity I have students complete a web quest in which they actually find their own way from Mexico City to Oaxaca. They will then explore hotels, museums, churches, and other important landmarks of Oaxaca. If you like what you see, check out the web quest in my store and please follow me. If you like my work please provide feedback. I am fairly new and love to get insight from people that have used my lessons. If there are any problems with the links, please let me know. This is an experiment.
