Students work on using collected data to present them in a visual way. They create a bar graph based on tally marks that represent the number of ants that left their hole at four different times of the day. Students have to think about scale as they think through the numbers that have to be labeled on the graph. They get practice adding critical features to a graph, such as the numbers and labels. On the second page, after making their graph, students answer questions related to the collected data. They are asked to make inferences about what the data shows and how to test for reliability by doing repeated counts on other days.
